I have been very lucky to have Nehal as my guru in the journey of Hindustani classical. The first thing I have to say is that when I started, I was a person who had basic leanings towards music. After 4 years of learning with Nehal, I have gained a much deeper appreciation, can see nuances in the same songs that I have listened to my whole life. It is nothing less than bliss. I should also mention how she uses our shared love for old Hindi songs to teach concepts. To help my understanding, she tunes the classes in a format that I enjoy by mixing difficult topics like raags with songs we both love. She never pushes, is very understanding that as a mom of 2 I can’t always practice. She immediately tunes each class based on how well I have learnt a topic.
